This course will be delivered as a facilitated, distance learning training event using Adobe Connect Platform.
The goal of the Mitigation Assessment Team (MAT) Workshop is to cover the impact of natural hazards on structures and related infrastructure, MAT damage assessment, information contained in MAT Reports, and how to apply lessons learned to strengthen buildings to mitigate future disaster damages.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify effective mitigation measures to reduce damage from flood and wind hazards.
2. Apply lessons learned from the MATs to mitigation projects under the Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) programs and the Public Assistance purviews.
3. Prepare state, local community, and Tribal officials to either advocate for or implement more hazard-resistant building codes, standards, and ordinances to reduce future losses from natural hazards.

The primary audience for this course consists of professionals at State, Local community, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) levels, including engineers, architects, scientists, design professionals, construction contractors, building owners, building officials, plan reviewers, and others.
